Jerry Marmelstein
President & Founder
Jerry Marmelstein is a national authority on the challenges that competition and deregulation in the telecommunications industry present to property owners and managers. Mr. Marmelstein specializes in strategic planning, having consulted for managers of some of the largest real estate portfolios in the country. He lends his extensive engineering experience to crucial design and engineering planning sessions on each major Riser project.
Mr. Marmelstein has worked extensively with several Regional Bell Operating Companies, interexchange carriers (including AT&T and MCI), and competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) such as Metropolitan Fiber Systems (now part of WorldCom). His broad experience in the telecommunications industry proves invaluable during negotiations on behalf of building owners. Because he understands the thinking and concerns on both sides of the table, he is able to bridge gaps and close deals.
Mr. Marmelstein has held positions in outside plant engineering and management for Morrison Knudsen Technologies, Kiewit Network Technologies, and MFS, overseeing construction and expansion of fiber-optic networks in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Minneapolis, and Pittsburgh. Subsequently he served as Engineering Manager for Long Distance North, a regional interexchange carrier, and General Manager of Hyperion Telecommunications of Vermont. There, he directed the design, engineering, implementation, and quality control of a statewide SONET-based fiber-optic network and negotiated regulatory and legal issues related to the company's entry into competition with NYNEX.
Mr. Marmelstein has served on the State and Local Affairs and Congressional Network Committees of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, and is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certified by Building Industry Consultant Services International (BICSI).
